I
am writing to you on the behalf of the Lighthouse Foundation to
thank you for the kind donation of your IT knowledge, services and
expertise. Generous donations like yours, form and further
strengthen the very foundations that Lighthouse is built on. It is
kind gestures and actions like this that ensure our survival and
progression, in helping the most vulnerable young people within our
community.
Our
organisation provides a loving family home to young people who may
otherwise be homeless. We have young people from all walks of life,
but the common denominator is that they need to be cared for, loved
and supported. Most of our young people have been abused over many
years. Did you know that 1 child is hurt and abused every 2
minutes in Australia?
Before Natalie came to Lighthouse, she’d been in and out of
refuges and living on the streets. Her family had forced her
from home because of her drug dependency, which stemmed from the
emotional and sexual abuse she’d suffered there. Her mother was
ill, her stepfather an alcoholic, and since she was ten years
old she’d taken responsibility for her two younger brothers who
suffered from disabilities.
Natalie is now twenty and has been living at Lighthouse for two
years. With the support of our clinical care team, she has been
totally drug-free for eighteen months, and her self-confidence
and self-esteem are soaring.
“Lighthouse feels safe and secure, and I feel free to spread my
wings.” Natalie said
We
could not do this without the assistance of the community,
Government, business and generous people like you. Words cannot
fully convey our appreciation for all that you have done and
continue to do for us
Andrew, thank you for supporting our young people.
Warmest regards,
Susan
